Greenwashing and product market competition

چکیده

This study examines the relationship between corporate greenwashing and product market competition (PMC). Using an unbalanced panel of 324 US firms over 2005–2015 period, we find that negative impact PMC on is conditional level environmental costs. Our results suggest effective disciplinary mechanism for achieving economic efficiency – in case featuring a high costs– through increase disclosure reliable material information.
